Trading Cards

Once I downloaded Word Mover, I quickly searched for additional apps developed by the International Reading Association. Trading Cards popped up, and it does not disappoint. Those wishing to continue on with a traditional classroom activity by adding an iPad twist will be satisfied here. Students can create Trading Cards on people, places, objects, events, and vocabulary. They use their knowledge to input information about various topics and can save, email, or print their final product. For example, students could make a trading card for the main character in their novels. This is nothing new, but the IRA forces students to focus on higher level thinking skills like problems, outcomes, and personal connections. Overall, reading teachers will be pleased at its simplistic design and ease of use.
